Our online summer schools give year 12 students a taste of studying a subject at university without leaving home at their own time and pace. They include taster lectures, advice and guidance sessions, live sessions with staff and current students, and time to complete a short project and receive feedback. There is a wide range of subjects to take part in.

 In this talk we will outline the work permissions and restrictions for student visa holders and explain how these work in practice. We will also explain how the tax and national insurance system in the UK works, how to apply for a national insurance number, and the ways in which the university's Careers team can help you to look for part time work.  Please note: this talk is for students who will be studying at the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø with a Student route visa. If you hold or will hold a different kind of immigration permission this talk will not be relevant to you.

In this session we will explain how the UK National Health Service (NHS) works, and how to access medical care. We will also talk about the concept of culture shock, the importance of looking after your wellbeing as you adjust to life in the UK, and the ways in which the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø can support this.

In this talk we will provide practical information your journey to the UK including generating a share code for travel, how immigration control works when you arrive at a UK airport and how to arrange onward travel from the airport to your accommodation. We will also cover what to pack to prepare you for your first term in the UK.

You’ll take a tour of one of our campuses with a student ambassador and get a sense of whether Brighton is the right place for you. This tour will include study spaces, libraries, social areas, sports facilities, cafes, lecture halls, and accommodation.
